Holiday Accommodation at Severn End
Today Sir Nicholas Lechmere and his family continue the long tradition of stewardship. The central section of the historic house has been opened for exclusive holiday accommodation, allowing guests to experience life in a historic English country estate.
Visitors can enjoy peaceful surroundings, sweeping parkland views and the unique atmosphere of a home that has stood at the centre of the estate for centuries.
Private Events and Historic Setting
Severn End Estate also provides a unique setting for private events, gatherings and special occasions. With its historic architecture, parkland landscape and views across the Severn Valley, the estate offers an unforgettable backdrop for memorable experiences.
Explore the Estate
The estate encompasses 1,800 acres of Worcestershire countryside, including historic parkland, woodland and the site of the historic Hanley Castle.
Guests can explore the landscape, enjoy walks through rolling countryside and discover the heritage that has shaped Severn End for nearly 1,000 years.
This stunning Grade II listed manor house has had its fair share of stories to tell over the years. After a fire ravaged the property in 1896, it was rebuilt in the same medieval style, restoring the building to its former glory and ensuring future generations can enjoy the estate's rich heritage.

“Society grows when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
Greek Proverb
For nearly a thousand years the Lechmere family have cared for the land of Severn End Estate, overlooking the River Severn in the parish of Hanley Castle.
At the heart of the estate is a simple belief: we should always give back more than we receive. This philosophy is symbolised in the Lechmere family crest of the vulning pelican — a medieval emblem depicting a mother pelican feeding her young with her own blood, representing sacrifice, care and stewardship.
Everything we do at Severn End is shaped by our deep connection to this extraordinary countryside and to the vibrant local community that enjoys it. We believe that historic estates should not exist in isolation, but as part of a living landscape that supports people, nature and local enterprise.
Across every aspect of the estate we strive to build relationships based on mutual benefit — whether with the tenants of our properties, the local communities around us, or through our farming and forestry practices. Supporting local businesses, craftspeople and individuals is central to the way we operate.
In caring for Severn End we look not only to the present, but to the generations that will follow. Like the proverb that guides us, our aim is to plant the trees that will benefit the future — both figuratively and literally — ensuring that the landscape, heritage and community of Severn End continue to thrive for centuries to come.

At Severn End Estate, we manage a diverse portfolio of rural enterprises, combining traditional estate values with modern sustainability and community focus.
Residential Property
A cornerstone of the traditional English estate, our residential portfolio offers a wide range of character homes to rent. We prioritise long-term relationships with our tenants, with several families now in their third generation on the estate.
Commercial Property
From workshops to rural pubs, our commercial properties support the local economy and community. The historic Three Kings Inn—our estate pub—has been family-run for over a century and is celebrated for its award-winning selection of British real ales and ciders.
Agriculture
At the heart of the estate lies our farmland. We work closely with tenant farmers to produce high-quality British food while championing sustainable agriculture, soil health, and responsible land stewardship.
Forestry & Woodland Management
With nearly 10% of the estate under woodland, we operate a regenerative forestry programme. From ancient woodland to productive plantations, all timber is sustainably used—supporting biomass energy, estate maintenance, and long-term replanting. Our landscape also includes cricket bat willow, nutteries, and parkland avenues, with further planting planned to enhance biodiversity.
Renewable Energy & Environment
Environmental responsibility is central to everything we do. Our initiatives include biomass heating systems, solar energy development, and energy crop production for anaerobic digestion. We actively participate in UK environmental schemes and collaborate with organisations such as Severn Trent and the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to enhance biodiversity and land health.
At Severn End, we are just as committed to maintaining and bettering the estate as the owners were 500 years ago. As well as more modern additions, guests can explore the areas within the grounds, including the Garden Pavilion (1661), the Pigeon House (1677), and the Malt House (1681).
Sporting & Fishing
Bordering nearly four miles of the River Severn, the estate offers exceptional coarse fishing. Our low-impact shooting and deer management programmes are carefully balanced to support conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable food production.
Equestrian Facilities
Sink Farm is home to our modern equestrian centre, featuring stabling, a floodlit arena, and private turnout. Riders can also enjoy established hacking routes across the estate’s scenic countryside.
Events & Weddings
Set against a 15th-century manor house and stunning parkland, Severn End Estate provides a unique venue for weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events. From intimate gatherings to large-scale functions, we offer flexible event spaces in partnership with experienced planners.
Holiday Lettings & Accommodation
Experience the estate firsthand with our luxury holiday accommodation, including the beautifully restored centre of Severn End House. Guests can also enjoy boutique stays, countryside B&Bs, and off-grid cabins, as well as riverside wild camping with views of the Malvern Hills.
